Managing Internet Content Using Social Media

Search engines are becoming increasingly tailored to exactly what it is that the companies think we want to see. If two people google the same phrase, "Paris" for example, they will have completely different search results. If person "A" regularly looks into vacationing and romantic getaways, their search results will always bring up content that follows along in that mindset, likewise, person "B", who regularly looks into the social, and political aspects of the city, will find that their search will bear results in that area. While this may seem like an ideal situation, in fact, it limits what you are able to find on the web and disconnects you with the internet's true content.

Another way to look for web content is through creating social media dashboards that search through topics, trends, hashtags, users and more. This technique will show you all that you can know on a topic. the filter is set by you and everything relating to it will come through. What this means is that you will take control of your internet filtering not a larger organization who may have an ulterior motive behind their content allowances.

For my most recent assignment, I created a tweet deck that allowed me to see more into internet privacy and the web 2.0. Check it out
